The 2022 Mazda MX-30 has garnered attention as the first-ever battery electric mass-market Mazda. Now, after making a name for itself internationally, this exciting new model is set to arrive at U.S. dealerships later in 2021.
The Mazda MX-30 may be the first electric Mazda to reach the U.S., but it certainly won’t be the last. Jeff Guyton, President of Mazda North American Operations, revealed that a traditional hybrid and an assortment of plug-in hybrid models will debut in the near future.
As for the Mazda MX-30, it will offer a unique rotary range extender that will recharge the battery and make for a quiet ride. The SUV combines a 35.5 kWh lithium-ion battery with an electric motor to deliver a combined 144 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque.
Thanks to its SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY, it will create smooth and exciting rides while still being eco-friendly. And when it’s time to recharge the battery, plug the model into a DC fast charging station and you won’t have to wait long to hit the road again
Not only is the powertrain environmentally friendly, but much of the design is as well. The stylish Mazda MX-30 incorporates sustainable materials like recycled fabrics and cork on the inside. Meanwhile, the exterior is just as eye-catching as any gas-powered Mazda.
